Colombian and Puerto Rican gang arrested after stealing millions from houses in Bangkok and surrounding areas

Police in Bangkok announced the arrest of a gang of three burglars from Colombia and Puerto Rico who stole from houses in three provinces.
The gang were arrested at the weekend at the Windmill Park A housing estate in Samut Prakarn.
Police found them in possession of more than 1000 stolen items including two safes, jewelry, watches, brand name bags, amulets and two guns.
They were using two Toyota Vios cars to tour round housing estates. Four fake plates were found in their possession.
Police said CCTV evidence showed the gang would drive around the estates then target big houses where there were no people, no dogs and no lights on.
They said the gang had admitted to a string of thefts in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakarn.
Householders in these areas are invited to go to Ratanathibet police station to reclaim stolen property and identify the gang.
In line with recent directives the gang were not paraded for the press. Deputy chief of the Region 1 police Thana Chuwong handled the press conference.
Much of the stolen property – sometimes around a million baht’s worth from each house – plus tools used in the burglaries was on display.
