Constructions begins on second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge

Yesterday (Sunday 30th August) a ground-breaking ceremony was held in Mae Sot for the second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge that will link Mae Sot in Thailand with Myawaddy in Myanmar. The event was attended by Government leaders from both countries.
The cost of the bridge, that is due to be completed in 2017, will be borne by the Thai side with a budget of 640 million baht. It is hoped that this second bridge will ease congestion on the first bridge which currently can take cargo vehicles half a day to cross. The bridge will also promote trade between the two countries.
