Police are hunting for a couple after CCTV caught them dragging a corpse to an early morning fruit and vegetable market in downtown Udon Thani.

The corpse had been under a pick-up with the licence plate number 8001 (Udon Thani). It had been parked outside a fruit trader’s stall for twenty minutes. A lady called Lalitawadee, 19, had seen legs protruding out from under the vehicle before the pick-up left the market. The couple – aged about 35 – 40 – had apparently spotted the corpse, detached it and then driven off. The market was busy with customers. Pol Lt Thaen Numcharoen said that the people who dragged the corpse into the market had surely feared trouble so decided to flee the scene. They probably didn’t realize the body was under their vehicle at first. An investigation is underway to find them and determine if they hit and killed the man or someone else did. He said they should not be hard to find as they were probably frequent visitors to the market. Sanook reported that the dead man had limbs and head still attached and there were a few scraps of clothing. Almost all the internal organs and intestines had been eviscerated.
