Patong Police have launched a search for the person who dumped a dead female foetus in a garbage bin on the main road from Kathu into Patong last night (Feb 28).

Dead baby girl foetus found dumped in Patong garbage | News by Samui TimesKusoldharm Foundation rescue workers were notified of the gruesome discovery, at the entrance to Soi Khuanyang off Phra Baramee Rd, halfway over the hills between Patong and Kathu (see map below), at about 11pm, explained Maj Patcharee Wongboon of the Patong Police.

The foetus, that of an unborn female estimated to have been in the womb seven to eight months, was found in a plastic bag mixed with other waste. The umbilical cord was still attached.

Police estimated that foetus had been removed from the mother no more than three hours earlier.

The baby’s remains were taken to Patong Hospital for further examination.

Despite the late stage of development of the unborn child, investigators are pursuing the theory that the foetus was aborted and its body dumped in the bin.

Police reported that officers were reviewing CCTV footage from cameras in the area to find the whereabouts of the people who dumped the body in the bin, so that they could be prosecuted
