Dead man found at Phuket port, stabbed in head

When investigator Maj Rachun Panwai and Kusoldharm rescuers arrived at the pier in the afternoon they found a group of local people gathered on shore gawking – despite the foul smell of the already badly decomposed body.
The dead man was wearing a red tank top and white jeans with a kitchen knife tucked into the waistband.
After he was retrieved police found the knife sticking out of the back of his head. They also found a stab wound in his back.
In his pocket they found B100 cash and a mobile phone, which may give clues as to the dead man’s identity.
Police estimated he had been dead for at least 10 days and theorised that he might have been a Burmese worker attacked by a gang and stabbed from behind as he ran away. His attackers, they believe, dumped him in the sea after he collapsed.
So far, however, they have no solid clues about his identity. Kusoldharm volunteers took the body to Vachira Hospital for further examination.
