Dengue Fever Claims 59 Lives in Thailand

According to the Public Health Minister Pradit Sintavanarong the dengue fever situation in Thailand is still cause for concern. Since the beginning of 2013 nearly 49,000 people in Thailand have been infected with the dengue virus and 59 of those have died because of the disease. Half of the deceased were children. The minister has urged hospitals to diagnose their patients carefully and thoroughly and urged the nation to take preventative steps such as cleaning water containers and sewerage drains, he encourages the use of mosquito repellant and the elimination of mosquito breeding grounds. Anybody who is stuffing from body aches, flu type symptoms and a headache should immediately seek medical assistance as these are the first signs of the deadly dengue virus.
