Depressed Chinese tourist attempts suicide in Phuket resort

A Chinese tourist was taken to Thalang Hospital this morning (January 31) after attempting suicide in the room of the Pa Khlok resort where she was staying.
The tour guide for the group, Kanit Saeloh, told The Phuket News that the woman arrived in Phuket with her four friends from Yunnan two days ago, still depressed over a recent divorce.
“She went to Thalang hospital last night to get some anti-depressants,” Mr Kanit said.
“She was staying in a room alone, separate from her four friends who were staying together, and that may have increased her stress,” he theorised.
The friends found her in her room covered with blood after apparently trying to cut her own throat with a kitchen knife.
After stemming the blood, Kusondharm Rescue volunteers took her Thalang Hospital. She was later transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital.
