Deputy PM ensures security for people on New Year holiday

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon has emphasized stringent enforcement of laws during the New Year festival and expressed readiness to ensure safety for the people.
The deputy PM on Wednesday presided over a meeting on security and road accident reduction during the coming New Year holiday. He instructed security units and officers to stay vigilant in every area in order to prevent incidents and ensure security for the public with a focus on preventive measures.
Gen. Prawit stressed on stringent law enforcement and the establishment of joint commands between the military, police and public health units. He added that there must be incident action plans and drills at important places, especially New Year countdown venues, airports, bus terminals and Sanam Luang. All relevant units must be on standby and work in coordination, said Gen. Prawit.
The deputy PM also urged the public to alert officers of irregularities and use the roads carefully in order to prevent and decrease road accidents.
