DLT orders traveller safety centres set up across nation

The Department of Land Transport (DLT) has ordered its provincial offices to set up commuter safety centres that can be contacted at 1584 and to protect travelers from opportunistic service providers during the New Years.
DLT Director-General Sanit Phromwong has revealed his office has ordered all of its provincial branches to prepare to facilitate holiday travellers, especially between December 29 of this year and January 4 of next year.
The offices are to set up safety centres that can be contacted via the 1584 hotline. In Bangkok, the centres will be established at all 3 of the main transport terminals. Travellers are urged to report any irregularities as well as service providers hiking up their prices unfairly.
Transport providers who violate Section 159 of the Land Transport Act, which regulates pricing and fares, will be fined no more than 10,000 baht. Violators will also be recorded with future punishments to include revocation of their business license.
