Dolphin found dead on Songkhla beach

The carcass of a dolphin was found on the Chalathat Beach in Songkhla’s Muang district Sunday evening, an official said.
Santi Nilawat, an academic based at the Songkhla-based marine and coastal resources research and development centre, said the carcass was found at 5pm near the Samira Cape.
The carcass had been washed ashore by the waves. Small plastic ropes were seen among its intestines.
The carcass was taken to the research centre’s lab for a post-mortem.
Santi said it was a bottleneck dolphin about one year old and measuring some 1.5-metres in length. Its condition suggested that it had been dead for several days.
