DSI asked to act against online scammers targeting Thai women

On Friday three women officially called on Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation to take action against online predators who prey on Thai woman.
The founder of the Thai Anti Scam community Facebook page, Ranyaporn Wichienchotewat said that many women who were the victims of online crime had come to her and lost tens of thousands each, one woman was duped out of Bt6 million.
Ranyaporn said that the community page was created to warn Thai women about the risks of running into scammers online on social media sites and on online dating sites, she herself was lured into transferring Bt20,000 to a foreign man after only chatting to him online for about a month.
