Escaped Phuket prisoner surrenders

Inmate Nimit Jindamanee, 45, had broken free from his handcuffs and escaped from Vachira Hospital yesterday morning (Dec 18) (see story here) but was found to be hiding out in Moo Baan Saphan Hin later that evening.
Prison guards, Phuket City Police and Wichit Police surrounded a house in Saphan Hin after they learned that Nimit hiding there.
He surrendered soon after officers surrounded thew house to stop another escape.
Chief prison warden, Pichit Wanjit, said that officers went out looking for him at places thy thought he could be be hiding. They had also filed a report of a missing inmate at Phuket City Police Station.
Police are currently questioning the owner of the home where he was found to find out what kind of connection they have with Nimit and whether they had just met the him and wanted to help.
“We still have to question Nimit to find out the reason he escaped. The guards who were responsible for monitoring him when he escaped will be questioned,” Mr Pichit said.
