His lawyer said that the account number had been made public and the withdrawal was to guard against criminals potentially stealing the money.

Pol Lt Charoon Wimool was involved in an 18 month dispute with teacher Preecha Kraikruan over who really won.

At first the police themselves decided it was the teacher but ultimately the Kanchanaburi court decided in June of this year that “Lung Charoon” was the rightful owner of the millions.

He went with his lawyer to the Kanchanaburi court to say he was closing his account after Preecha mentioned the account name in court documents.

What is happening with the money is up to him and his relatives, he told the media.
