FA chief defends decision to cancel all Thai football until the end of the year

The Thai Football Association boss has defended his decision to cancel all football in the kingdom until the end of the year following the death of His Majesty the King.
Somyot Phumphanmuang has come under criticism from some clubs and fans who disagree with the ruling.
But he said in an open letter that he took the decision after consultation and he believes it is the right one in the circumstances.
He said that he believes that the decision is supported by the majority of the public who have other things on their mind at this difficult time.
However, he left the door open that the decision might be changed if enough people made the case for that. In such a situation he would listen to representations personally before making a decision.
Somyot said that he took full responsibility in the matter.
