Fake policeman along with female accomplice arrested in Bangkok

One male and one female have been arrested in Bangkok for allegedly extorting money from motorbike taxies around the Esplanade Cineplex.
The couple were arrested at a house in Bang Khen on Saturday by police from the Crime Suppression Division.
According complaints put in by taxi drivers, Putiset Soisuwan, 40, (know and Joe) and Nataya Klinpatum, 25 had been demanding Bt3,950 from taxi drivers for parking rental fee, cost of utilities and a ‘tip’ for authorities in the area. Members of the Crime Suppression unit put the couple under surveillance and confirmed the allegations to be true.
Upon arrest the couple denied extorting money, but admitted to asking the taxi-drivers to pay a rental fee. They maintain they were working on behalf of the landlord and assumed that the taxi drivers had mistaken them as police due to their close relationship with many police officers. Puntana went on to say that the couple had documentation proving they were collecting money on behalf of the landlord. After their arrest the landlord was summoned in order to provide and explanation and a demand was made to reimburse each taxi driver with the BT3,950 they had paid.
