Finnish man found dead in Bangkok guesthouse – police suspect suicide

In Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district a 41 year old Finnish man was found dead in his Bangkok guest house, police have said that his death seems to have been a suicide. When police arrived at the scene they discovered that the room was tightly sealed and locked and smelled very strongly of cooking gas.
The man, who was later identified as Pekkola Erkki, had been staying at the guest house for 29 days with his Thai wife. Police suspect suicide as the room was locked from the inside and all of the windows and doors were sealed with adhesive tape. They found a 5.6kg gas cylinder that had been opened as well as a suicide not. The man’s wife was not present when the body was found.
