Five year old Australian killed in motorbike accident

A five year old Australian girl has been killed in a motorbike accident in Northern Thailand. The little girl named Sonya was visiting family with her parents and six year old brother. During her trip she took a trip on a motorbike with her grandmother to the local market, when they tried to turn right they were hit by a car from behind. They were both thrown into the road. Sonya’s grandmother was killed instantly, Sonya was critically injured and rushed to the hospital where she was placed on life support, she died last Friday, five days after the accident took place on January 18th, the very day she was due to fly home.
Sonya’s parents are now desperate to take their little girl’s body back to Byron Bay, where she was born in order to bury her close to where they live so they can visit her regularly. A My Cause page has been created to help take care of the funeral costs, the cost of transporting the little girl’s body and helping to finance the parents taking some time off work to cope with their loss. The fund hopes to raise around $15,000 Aus. The funds will also go towards the funeral of the Grandmother.
