A Honda City car driven by 27 year old drunkard Thanet plowed into the back of the couple on their way to a restaurant.

When police arrived with rescue teams they found the Omani man lying dead in a pool of blood.

His wife Chamaiporn, 39, is in a critical condition in an Nakhon Phanom hospital.

Police said that Thanet registered as having 220 mg of blood in his system, several times over the limit.

They said he was not only drunk but speeding.

He has been detained.

The police confirmed the Omani husband had that very day arrived in the north east to visit his wife’s hometown.
