Foreigners arrested after drug smuggling gang rounded up in Bangkok

A gang who imported “ice” methamphetamines worth 15 million baht in CCTV cameras from China have been arrested.
The ten cameras were sent from China and the Thai authorities were alerted to the arrival of the delivery by drug authorities in Guangzhou, reported Daily News.
A sting was set up for the arrival of the drugs and three people were arrested who went to collect the packages and who received a subsequent delivery.
A total of 5.5 kilos of the class one drug was stuffed in the cameras.
Some was intended for delivery in Thailand and the rest was due to be sent by ship on to Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
Arrested were Julawan Saenwiang, 35 Muhammad Fahmantayong, 22, and an African man named only as Phillip who was rounded up at an apartment in the Wattana area of Sukhumvit Road.
All were charged with possession of class one drugs with intent to sell. Phillip who had no passport was also charged with being in the country illegally.
