A former police officer of Khon Kaen given life sentence for murder

The former deputy superintendent of Nong Rua district police was today (Wednesday) sentenced to life imprisonment by Khon Kaen provincial court after he was found guilty of involvement in the murder of a local official.
Another accomplice was sentenced to 37 years by the same court.
Both Pol Lt-Col Somchit Kaewprom and Praphan Srivilai and three other men were charged with the murder of Mr Suchart Kotethoom, former assistant chief of Khon Kaen provincial administration organization. The incident took place on May 3 last year in front of the victim’s house in Khon Kaen township.
The court however acquitted the other three accomplices citing the lack of sufficient evidences to prove their involvement in the murder. However, the trio were ordered remanded by the court pending a decision by the public prosecutor whether to appeal the verdict or not.
