Four roads to be closed for New Year’s countdown

Traffic police will close four roads on New Year’s Eve for countdown celebration at CentralWorld shopping mall.
Pol Maj-General Jiraphat Phumichit, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said Ratchadamri Road would be closed from Pratunam to Ratchaprasong intersections.
Ploenchit Road will be closed from Chidlom to Ratchaprasong intersections, Rama I Road from Ratchaprasong to Chalermpao intersections, and Sarasin Road from Ratchadamri to Sarasin intersections.
The closures will start at 2pm on December 31 and last until 6am January 1, Jiraphat said.
He added that the Ratchadamri Road would be partially closed from December 26 for preparations for the countdown in front of the CentralWorld shopping mall.
From December 26 until December 30, the left lane of outbound Ratchadamri Road will be closed from Ratchaprasong to Pratunam intersections for the construction of a stage and other preparations.
On December 31, Ratchadamri Road between the two intersections will be closed to all vehicles except buses from 6am to noon. Buses would be allowed to use only one lane in each direction, Jiraphat said, adding that the four roads would then be completely closed at 2pm on December 31.
