Four year old twins marry each other in Chonburi province

In Chonburi province a rather unusual wedding took place on the 9th of February in front of over one hundred guests.
Four year old twins nong Ton and nong Pai married each other in a symbolic ceremony believed to bring about good fortune.
The wedding took place at a residence in the Sriracha district , the Minister of Culture Songthaya Khunpluem was among the guests.
The ceremony began with a traditional wedding parade and group of local residents sang. A symbolic dowry of 99,999 baht along with a separate set of gold piece was later exchanged between the twin’s parents.
The twins were blessed by elderly family members and prominent guests who wished them a long and happy life.
Mr. Garathep Rakthum and Ms Lachaya Puangpan, the parents of the twins said the ceremonial marriage was based on the belief that twins are lovers who were separated in a previous life and they should be reunited again in their incarnations. They believe the wedding will bring about good fortune, not only for the twins, but for the whole family.
