Freak storm wrecks havoc in Ayutthaya

A freak storm struck three districts in Ayutthay province Friday bringing down about 100 power poles, including 33 high-powered poles, causing widespread blackout.Several cars travelling on the roads in Wang Noi, Uthai and Bang Pa-in districts, particularly a stretch of Rojana road from kilometer markers 1-5 in Tambon Lam Tasao, Wang Noi district, were damaged by the falling power poles.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
Mr Suwat Park-insee, manager of the Provincial Electricity Authority’s branch office in Wang Noi district said that 33 high-powered poles and 55 mid-sized power poles collapsed, causing widespread blackout.
