Rescue workers who arrived at the scene of the accident had to pull the victim out and found he was already dead.

A rented Honda motorcycle was found lying about 30 metres away from the sedan which plunged on the roadside with its front heavily damaged.

Mr Siridet later told Cha-am police that he was driving on the Klong Thien road and as his car arrived at a road intersection leading to Naveepirom hotel, a motorcycle ridden by the victim cut in front of his car at close range, making it impossible to apply the brake in time.

His car then smashed into the motorcycle, he added.

Police said that the victim and his wife visited Cha-am and were staying at Methavalai hotel since Monday. The couple were scheduled to check out of the hotel on Nov 18.
