German tourist commits suicide at Suvarnabhumi International Airport

A German tourist jumped to his death at around 4pm on Thursday afternoon. The man jumped from the fourth floor connection way between the outbound passenger terminal and the car park in zone three.. He was later identified as 45 year old Michale Walter.
Pol Col Kittipop Chompunut, the commander of the airport said he was told about the suicide immediately after it happened. He informed the Smitive Hospital and asked them to rush a medical team to the scene. Officals found them an on the first floor in front of the outbound passenger building, he had suffered injuries to his head and neck, he later died at the hospital.
CCTV shows the man putting down his bag before stepping back from the fence, then running towards it and jumping over with his head pointing downwards as if he was diving into a swimming pool. He had come into Thailand on February 15th and was due to leave on the 16th of March. So far the motive for ending his life is unknown. The German Embassy have been informed.
Suicide at the airport is not uncommon; several farang tourists have committed suicide by jumping from the platforms that connect the airport to the car parks at a rate of around three to four times a year.
