German tourist drowns in rough seas in Koh Phangan

Yesterday a 46 year old German man drowned after ignoring rough seas warnings in Koh Phangan. The man, who has not yet been named had left their bungalow to go swimming at Tong Nai Pan, a popular tourist beach on the island. The man’s wife said he went off swimming and then she heard cries for help. She and a hotel staff member tried to reach the man but the waves were nearly two meters high making it very difficult to reach him, by the time he was pulled from the ocean he was already unconscious. Rescue workers performed CPR on the man but it was too late to save him. Red flags had been put up on the beach to warn of dangerous waves, sadly the man still went swimming.
