The Sareeraya group board of directors has announced the appointment of Scotsman Gordon James Gorman as the new General Manager of the ccc.
A veteran international hotelier, and long time resident of Bangkok, this will be Gorman’s fourth assignment in the Kingdom, having served previously at the former Sofitel Hua-Hin, the former Crowne Plaza Bangkok, and the Emerald Hotel Bangkok.
His globetrotting career, spanning more than 35 years, has included executive and general management positions with leading hotel brands, including Hilton International, Accor, InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Dusit and Rosewood, in many diverse primary city locations, including Nairobi, Mombasa, Abuja, Shanghai, Glasgow, Hua-Hin, Bahrain, Bangkok, Seoul, Dubai, Karachi, and in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he directed the operations of the ultra luxurious Al Faisaliah Hotel and Residence, Rosewoods flagship properties in the Middle East, before relocating to Pakistan in 2007 to oversee the renovation and repositioning of Karachi’s iconic Avari Towers Hotel, which now six years later is recognized as one of the best hotels in the region.
During his two-year tenure in Riyadh, the Al Faisaliah Hotel and the luxurious Rosewood Residence, both consistently earned first place in their respective competitive commercial sets, winning numerous company awards for financial excellence, service quality, and dynamic business growth. Mr. Gorman also enjoyed similar success during his two years as Hotel Manager of the Intercontinental group’s market leading properties in Seoul South Korea, the ultra luxurious Grand Intercontinental Gangnam, and the ultra modern Coex InterContinental.
With a wealth of experience in F&B concept and product development, and in the areas of revenue management and strategic marketing, Mr. Gorman also led the dynamic development and significant growth of the two Rosewood Riyadh properties food and beverage business segments, including the world famous Norman Foster designed Globe Restaurant atop the spectacular landmark Al Faisaliah Tower, and the Kingdom’s largest and most commercially successful exhibition, conference and banqueting facility, which lists the world’s leading blue chip companies, and the Saudi Royal family amongst it’s distinguished clients.
Mr. Gorman is a certified TQM leadership instructor, a “master hotelier” member of the International Chaines des Rotisseurs, and a former two term president, and founder of FBAT, the Food and Beverage Association of Thailand, an organization he intends to develop and lead once again, but this time from the island of Samui.Stay updated with Samui Times by following us on Facebook.
