Govt: All citizens entitled to free emergency services in first 72 hrs

The government has confirmed that all citizens are entitled to free emergency medical treatment at all hospitals in the first 72 hours following injury.
Government Spokesperson Lt. Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the prime minister had instructed hospitals nationwide to strictly adhere to new regulations issued by the Ministry of Public Health, especially the one mandating that all hospitals, with no exceptions, must provide free emergency medical services to everyone in need.
He said the hospitals will be able to claim the expenses involved from the government’s healthcare funds and insurance companies.
After 72 hours, the patients can ask to be transferred to a hospital where they are entitled to free medication. Should they wish to stay in the same hospital, they will have to cover additional fees after the 72-hour period themselves.
