Grannie, 72, killed and raped in Chumphon – family dog locates the corpse | Samui Times

A Lang Suan, Chumphon man came back from taking his son to go fishing on Sunday morning to find that his wife was unusually not at home.

Pornwichai, 72, looked everywhere for her but could not find her. Being old he rested a while before continuing the search.

At that moment the family dog Bunnam came back to the house. Pornwichai said to his pet: “Have you seen your mum then?”

Bunnam became agitated and ran out of the house as though he wanted Pornwichai to follow him.

He led his owner into a palm plantation near the house.

First of all Pornwichai found his wife’s underwear on a path.

Then he found a chain for an amulet.

Finally he found his wife naked in the plantation. Somwan, also 72, had had her face smashed in with a blunt object and she had been raped.

She was dead.

Pol Capt Sanya of the Paknam Lang Suan police said suspicion has fallen on a Hmong man called Tawan, 37, and his younger brother aged 20.

The pair came looking for work on fishing boats on Saturday and ended up sharing drinks at the house. When it got late Somwan said they all had to stop drinking and go home.

Tawan came back on Sunday morning trying to sell an amulet but no one wanted to buy it. Then Pornwichai took his son to work on the fishing boat.

Capt Sanya thinks that Tawan came back in a lustful state and found Somwan home alone. She fled his advances by running into the palm plantation where she was murdered and raped.

Investigations continue.
