Mum Chalisa, 19, a Burmese worker at the property in Bang Len district who had been mincing dried chili – turned in horror as the boy’s fingers were all detached and his hand was mangled in the machine.

Nothing could be done to reattach the fingers or hand and surgeons were obliged to amputate the little boys arm around the elbow.

Chalisa said she had no idea that her son had toddled into the area where she was working. She turned for a moment to grab some more chili to process then was alerted by the screams of her son who was covered in blood.
