The healthy way to enjoy delicious burgers in Koh Samui

Many island residents have burgers on their list of things they like to eat the most but with so much recent publicity into the harmful effects of fast food, burger lovers have had to give careful consideration to whether they should really be indulging in their favorite foods and have been left feeling deprived of the snack they love the most. The great news is that there is a way to enjoy fast food and burgers that will not damage your health or indeed your pocket. The Prends une Pause burger truck that now has a permanent spot next to the roundabout at Tesco Lotus Chaweng.
Prends une pause means take a break and is the brainchild of French national Nicolas who, before coming to Koh Samui was a line cook and a sous chef for several seasons in Switzerland and the French region of Languedoc.
When he came to Samui he decided to buy and convert a Toyota Hiace and has refurbished the van into a fully equipped mobile burger outlet. Nicolas chose Orange for his truck a colour that represents creativity, communication and the stimulation of the senses. He chose a dash of purple for dreams, mystery, calm and meditation and a splash of black that represents the dark side, style and simplicity. Nicolas also included a sound system in his mobile gastronomic mobile burger maker and has created play lists to suit every moment of the day.
What is really great about enjoying a burger from Nicolas, other than the almost scandalously low prices, is the fact that all of the ingredients are as fresh as can be, he goes shopping every day and makes his own burger patties and sauces and gets his bread made to his own recipe at the French Bakery.
The menu has a wholesome, delicious and very filling Beef, bacon and cheese burger, a Beef and cheese burger, a Pork Thai style burger with cheese and a Crispy chicken burger. On the sandwich front if burgers are not your thing you can enjoy an American beef, Thai pork or an Oriental chicken sandwich all of which are freshly prepared and really hit the mark.
The Prends une Pause Burger van has a nice seating area, under a large canapy where you can indulge in a great range of drinks, a delicious burgers or sandwichs and a spot of people watching, there is always something going on around the roundabout at Tesco Lotus. Simply watching Nicolas conjure up gourmet style burgers in his imaginative van that is equipped with a fryer for his French Fries portions a grill, a fridge, fans and fairly lights, and enjoying the delicious aromas emanating from his van is an experience worth the trip alone. And of course parking in this area could not be easier.
If you have a spot of shopping to do then why not let Nicolas know what time you will be done and have him prepare a superb snack for you that will be ready for you to eat in or takeaway at a time that suits you, or if you are not shopping but feel like eating at home then just give him a call ahead of time and he will prepare anything you like for you to pick up at your convenience.
As well as his regular menu Nicolas often puts on specials, you can find out what is new by visiting his Facebook page here
The Prend une Pause van can be found outside Tesco Lotus Chaweng every day from 1pm until 8pm every day apart from Sundays.
