Heated family argument leads to shooting in Phuket

At 11pm, Chalong police and tourists assistance officials were called to a house in Moo 8, Chalong where an argument had taken place between a man and his two stepsons.
According to police, witnesses told them that at around 10:50pm, the stepfather, Amnart Lakupapkawin, 54, was drinking beer with his three friends when his stepsons, Jamie Peter Smith, 30, and Ronnie Smith, believed to be 25 or 26, arrived to visit their mother.
The three got into heated argument which caused Amnart to pull out a .38 Smith and Wesson pistol with the intention of shooting the younger stepson, Ronnie.
Ronnie̕s elder brother, Jamie Paul, tried to take the gun away from Amnart and while the two were wrestling for the gun, Amnart pulled the trigger five times, with one bullet hitting Jamie Peter̕s hip, and another hitting Amnart̕s right arm.
Rescuers gave Amnart first aid treatment on scene before taking him to Vachira Phuket Hospital.
Jamie Peter was taken to the new Debuk Hospital on Chao Fa West Rd.So far no charges have been filed against any of the involved.
