Heavy rains predicted over central, eastern, southern provinces

The Meteorological Department warned residents of several central, eastern and southern provinces on Tuesday to brace themselves for heavy rains from tropical storm Kirogi. The department issued warning No.15 at 5am of the low-pressure cell covering the upper Gulf of Thailand and the South.
It was forecast to move to the Andaman Sea on Tuesday, and cause more rain with isolated heavy downpours over the lower Central, East, and upper South.
The warning said Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Bangkok and its vicinity, Chonburi, Rayong, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phangnga and Phuket would be affected.
The department added that a strong high-pressure system is covering upper Thailand and the South China Sea, resulting in outbreaks of thundershowers and gusty winds, with temperatures dropping by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.
