Homeless man fundraises for stray cat’s food | News by Samui TimesThe sign on his stand says, “20 baht per bag, profits will pay for stray cat’s food expenses.”

Warunya Wattanasupachoke, who publicized his story online, revealed to Daily News that it was only yesterday that she met him at the walking overpass close to Chatuchak. Seeing the sign, she walked over to buy some for herself and discovered that Loong Dum’s lime supply had been provided by a well-wishing citizen who did not charge him any money.

She describes him as “friendly and polite,” and often apologetic for his lack of skill in choosing fresh produce.

“We shouldn’t judge someone based on their appearance,” Warunya says. “Take Loong Dum for example. Though he is homeless and rugged-looking, he has a big heart.”

“I’m fine with skipping meals, but the cat needs to eat,” he says.

A Facebook page called “Cat Lover Loong Dum” has been made for Thai netizens to follow the man’s daily activities.

“Your outer appearance doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, your self-worth is defined by how good of a person you are,” wrote the Facebook page administrator.
