Honest taxi drivers in Phuket return over half a million baht to their rightful owners | Samui Times

Alfredo De Santi, an Italian tourist has a special reason to remember his trip to Phuket when a bag he left in a taxi containing half a million baht in cash, a mobile phone, a passport and an iPad was returned to him. According to the Phuket News the man arrived in Phuket on the morning of January the 5th and took a taxi from the airport to the Nanai Residence Hotel.

taxi drivers thailandWhen he realized his mistake he filed a report at the airport at around 9-30am. By 10am the police had received a report from 51 year old taxi driver Phanom Baaanbai that a passenger had left a bag in his cab and it was returned to its rightful owner who told the police “I love Thailand”.

In a second incident the Prasert Tubkaew, a tuk tuk driver from Karon contacted the police to say he had found a wallet in his tuk tuk at 11pm on January 4th and using the contact details found in the wallet the police were able to reunite an Australian visitor with her wallet that contained forty thousand baht.
