Hundreds charter flights to land at Bangkok airport on Chinese New Year

Two million passengers are expected to pass through the Suvarnabhumi Airport during Chinese New Year with 563 additional charter flights landing during the festival, said the Airport Director.
The Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Airports of Thailand Public Co., Ltd has said that the passenger traffic of the airport is expected to be at 2.15 million persons during 14-26 February 2015, estimated at 165,783 passengers per day.
The estimated number for international passengers is at 1,820,094 persons, while the number for domestic passengers is at 335,084 persons, an increased 20 percent from the same period last year.
The airport director revealed that 563 charter flights are scheduled to land at the airport in the season in addition to regular flights. Most of these charter flights are from China. The total number of flights during the Chinese New Year will reach 12,034 flights, estimated at 926 flights a day, which is 4.18 percent increase from the same period last year.
To accommodate the passenger increase, the airport has held a meeting with all related agencies to improve the services with an increase in immigration staff, ground service assistance staff at the baggage claim areas, and Chinese language interpreters at the passport control area to accommodate flights from China, said the Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport.
