Indonesian caught at Phuket airport with Bt15.6m in cocaine

An Indonesian man has been arrested at Phuket International Airport trying to smuggle 5.2 kilos of cocaine onto the island.
Jemani Ikhsan, 63, was caught at the airport after he stepped off a flight yesterday evening (April 20) from Singapore.
The drugs, worth B15.6 million, were in plastic packets covered with tinfoil and concealed in three books with the centres cut out, and also in rolls wrapped in foil, and were traced as Jermani’s luggage passed through the security x-ray machines.
He had flown to Singapore from Bogota, Colombia, the world capital of cocaine production and sales, and home to some of the world’s most powerful drug cartels.
Police have stated that Jermani was due to deliver the drugs to a dealer in Khao Lak.
