On Thursday 14th of July an Indonesian man was detained at Samui airport with 3 kilograms of cocaine. The drugs were found in an unaccompanied suitcase he picked up at the baggage carrousel. Officials became suspicious when it appeared to have something hidden inside it revealed by the X ray.

busted for cocaine at Samui airportThe 48 year old man has been identified as Djemmy Petrus Mokodompit. He had arrived on the island a week prior to his arrest on a Bangkok Airways from Singapore.

When he arrive at the airport to pick up the case was cut open to reveal layers of resin and plastic that concealed 3,150 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of 9.4 million.

Mr Mokodompit told police officers he was hire to collect the suitcase by a Nigerian he did not name, he said he was paid 66,600 baht to collect the case but had no idea who he was meant to pass it on to. Mr Mokokdompit has now been arrested and charged with possession of a category 2 drug and bringing it into the country without permission.
