The Airports Authority of Thailand are proposing and increase of 200 baht on flying abroad.

The AOT are submitting a proposal to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) to raise this to 600 baht.

AOT chief Darun Saengchai said this would provide an extra 200 million baht for airport efficiency and maintenance.

There will be no increase for domestic flight as this is deemed enough at present.

Darun told Daily News studies showed that the increase will not affect passenger numbers.

Rents at airports also face a hike but the authorities promise to ensure that prices for food and drink do not rise as a result.
