Iranian woman intercepted at Bangkok airport using British passport

Immigration at Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday arrested a 26 year old Iranian woman who was travelling on a British passport.
Darya Sheida, from Tehran, had arrived in Thailand at Phuket on January 24th. She was using a passport in the name of a British national, Miss Mary Catherine Newland.
She got on flight PG 270 in Phuket to Bangkok and was then arrested before she was due to fly to London.
She told immigration that she bought the passport in Iran for $1,300 (40,300 baht). It came from an eastern European country, reported INN.
The news media reported that this was the third such arrest for travelling on false documents this year.
Police said this was a clear case of an individual using a third country to mask their true intentions.
