ISS IS LAUNCHING 10 ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS | News by Samui Times2017 sees the school celebrating its 10th anniversary since its founding in January 2007. To celebrate this milestone the wish of the school owners, Jeremy and Victoria Lees, is to give other children on the island the opportunity to access their excellent education program. The ‘Lees Scholarship’ awards will be offered to children living on Koh Samui who demonstrate a strong academic aptitude but who would otherwise be unable to study at ISS due to financial constraints.

ISS is very proud of its strong reputation as Koh Samui’s premier International School and longest serving licensed and accredited international school. The ethos of the school remains very British at heart giving students every opportunity to achieve great things both at school and beyond, standing by its motto “For a Better Future”. ISS is not only about academic success and its students are challenged to develop their sporting, musical, theatrical and artistic skills alongside their learning. The provision of a comprehensive schedule of extra-curricular activities combined with an imaginative curriculum and fantastic teachers is the key to its student’s success. Its 2016 IGCSE results (program of study followed in years 10 & 11) is a proof of its strength with 55% A/A* (over 2 times the UK average) achieved by its students. It is no wonder that students who graduate from ISS are fully prepared and ready for their next academic challenge, be it moving to another school or university anywhere around the World.

Students applying for a scholarship at ISS will need to demonstrate academic strengths but also an all-rounded attitude to learning by getting involved in all aspects of school life.

Students of Thai nationality can graduate from ISS with a Thai High School certificate in addition to their IGCSEs at age 16 opening up the door to a Thai University after ISS as their chosen study path. Alternatively, students can access mainstream international schools after ISS then internationally renowned universities.

If your child is in Year 6 (or equivalent) and above and interested in applying for a ‘Lees Scholarship’ (LS10, LS50 or LS80) contact the admissions office or visit the school website: Applications can be submitted until 3rd March 2017 by hand to Nancy, School Secretary or by email attachment at:
