Letter to the editor – another gas station scam uncovered

I had to go to this PTT gas station on the main road near Bangkok Hospital and watched the attendant closely. They have a new scam: the pump readout showed 100 baht and he did not reset the pump to zero before beginning to fill. Normally the pump would do this automatically but they had it rigged. I called him on it and without apology, he had to open a hatch on the pump, flip a switch, then move the metal lever under the pump handle up and down again. Normally just the pump handle would do that, so clearly the pump was rigged.
The fact that the pump has been altered to insert this special switch seems to indicate that the management must be complicit in this scam. I hope a Thai person of authority can contact PTT and the police so this can be stopped.
