Letter to the editor – Bangkok Airways Resident Cards

I have benefited from having a resident card with this airline and enjoyed the discounts they offered for some years being an expat with a retirement visa.
Staff are great and helpful but I was dismayed to hear that the management has shifted the goalposts and I and many friends who rent properties on the island are notgoing to be able to renew their cards.
The new rule insists that you own property or land and have a title deed.
It was suggested to me by the charming girl in the head office in Chaweng, in a jovial manner that I could always qualify by marrying a Thai girl.
I explained that I thought the benefits could be outweighed by the other expenses involved!

P.S. There are very many genuine expats on the island who are really unhappy about this situation, especially now that soon Thai Airways are ceasing their twice daily flights.
I offered to go to Bangkok Airways head office in Bangkok at my own expense to discuss this situation but there was no response to my offer
