Long jail terms handed down to principal defendants in Karaoke girl’s murder and mutilation

Sanook reported that the provincial court in Khon Kaen had read judgment on the four female and one male defendants in the murder of karaoke girl Warisara “Em” Klinjui, 22.
Em was found cut up and concealed in a field in the north eastern Thai province in May last year in a case that captivated the nation.
Preeyanuch “Preaw” and Kawita “Earn” were given 34 years and six months each.
Apiwan “Jae” was sentenced to 33 years nine months.
Mr Wasin was given 23 years 4 months and 20 days.
Jidarat “Benz” who received a stolen phone from the victim was sentenced to one year.
In addition the four principal defendants were ordered to pay the family of their victim 1,070,000 baht in 5,000 baht installments over 17 years at 7.5% interest.
The defendants have a month to lodge an appeal.
All have been held in custody since their arrest last year except “Benz” who was out on bail.
