Mafia crackdown order to be announced in a day or two

Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan said announcement on the crackdown of Mafia-styled gangs will be officially announced either today or tomorrow after the prime minister pledged to root out mafias across the country in six months.
Gen Prawit said today that he was awaiting for the official!appointment of mafia cracking committee from the prime minister which is expected either today and tomorrow.
He said he would head the crack team with the help from the National Council for Peace and Order, the Ministry of Interior, the Royal Thai Police and other relevant government agencies.
He said the crack team would concentrate on the suppression of war weapon and local influential networks, and to bring about safety in life and property of the people.
For mafia-style gangs providing protection for night entertainment venues, he made clear that this would be rooted out.
He said police and military personnel acting as mafias at these venues must not exist otherwise their superiors would be held responsible.
