Malaysian wanted for luxury car theft found dead in Thailand

Sukri Ismail, nicknamed Mat Yei Kudung from Kampung Laloh, Kuala Krai, Kelatan Malayisa has been found shot dead on a rubber plantation in the Thai Southern province of Narathiwat. The discovery was made on Thursday 16th of July, the man was suspected of being a luxury car thief. Initial investigations by the police suggested that the man may have been involved in a scuffle before his death, tyre marks were found close to his body. It is thought that the incident occurred before 10am and has been confirmed by the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok.
Captain Monteri Junmuang, Narathiwat’s district police officer said it is believed that the man as taken to the spot by three other men before he was gunned down. He told reporters “He had tried to fight them off, in a bid to escape but failed. We are investigating whether the killing was linked to separatist groups or was due to a personal matter”. He went on to say that Thai police had alerted the Malaysian consulate in Songkhla on the matter, adding that a report was received from Kampong Bangol Laweng’s assistant headman in Mukim Batong, Annuar Cheknae, on the incident.
