Man accused of child rape beaten to death in prison

A 37 year old man imprisoned after being accused of raping a child has been found dead in his cell. Wimol Preeprem, 37 was being detained at Nonthaburi Prison, he was found with rubber bands wrapped tightly around his wrists and testicles. Police and forensic officials said the man also had severe injuries and bruising to his face and body. The man had been apprehended in Sai Noi district of Nonnthburi and was facing charges of raping a girl under 15 years old. He was sent to the prison on January 2nd, three days before he was killed. 30 inmates were questioned in connection with his deat, DNA samples were collected from his cell mates. Police believe more than one inmate was involved in his death. The investigation continues.
