Man commits suicide after being accused of being the Bangkok bomber online

Last night, in north Bangkok, a man committed suicide days after claims were made online that he was the Bangkok bomber.
Kittisak meemang, 36, was found hanged in his home at around 9pm. Police, who were called to the scene in Prathum Thani province, said the man’s family believe he took his own life after somebody used his Facebook account to post a bogus message in his name admitting to the crime. The man’s sister said that she recalled him saying that he had been in internet café last Sunday and forgot to log out of his account. She told the police that she had tried talking to her brother, deleted the messages and even deactivated the account before going to the police with her brother to file a report. The man’s aunt said that he had received many death threats after the admission was posted and became more and more withdrawn after two men on a bike approached him in the street.
