Man has heart palpitations after receiving a 233,000 water bill

When Wiriya Saenmai, 53, got his water bill at his home in Ayutthaya, he expected it to be around one hundred baht, the amount he normally pays. Nothing could have prepared him for the shock he felt when he discovered he had a bill for 233,647 for using 9 million liters of water in just one month. My Wiriya, who works as a rescue worker, told reporters that he could not sleep after he received the bill, his blood pressure went up and he experienced a very high level of stress that led him to believe that he might have a heart attack. He was particularly shocked at the amount as he normally relies on ground water and very rarely uses government water.
After stressing about how he was ever going to be able to pay the bill the man questioned Thailand’s Provincial Waterworks Authority Officials at the Provincial Waterworks Authority clarified that the bill amount had been a mistake due to a new meter that had been installed in his house. After hearing the explanation Wiriya told reporters that he really wished that the waterworks had been more careful and hopes in the future that they will not repeat the mistake, especially with older people many of whom have heart conditions. “They could have a heart attack” and die he said.
