Man shoots girlfriend for dumping him in Phuket

A 34-year-old woman was taken to hospital with a gun shot wound last night (September 11) after her boyfriend shot her on her hand and under the eye for breaking up with him.
At 7:45pm, the gunman, 24-year-old Chinawat Korsai from Srisoonthon, surrendered to Thalang police with a .38mm Thai pradit pistol and .38 mm bullet shell.
Chinawat told police that he was upset that his girlfriend, Piyapa, broke up with him and told him to pack up and leave.
“We were engaged in a quarrel and I got very mad, so I shot her. I didn’t mean to hurt her, I was angry,” Chinawat told police.
Col Boonlert Onklang explained that at 3:30pm Thalang police received a call to investigate the shooting near soi Lipon Hua Harn in Srisoonthon. When the police arrived, rescue workers had already taken the victim, Piyapa Suanbonrae, 34, from Kamphaengphet, to hospital.
Maj Wichoti Meepop arrived at the hospital and questioned the victim about the incident. Piyapa told police that her boyfriend, Chinawat, shot her and fled away.
While police were in the process of looking for Chinawat, he went to the station and handed himself in.
Chinawat was being held at Thalang police station where he was charged with attempted murder and carrying a weapon into a public place without a permit.
Piyapa is in a stable condition and recovering from her injuries.
